22.10.10. The fishingseason is over. Today we had the last fishingday. The weather was "to nice". No drift. We got some nice cods.

21.10.10. 2 halibuts:-) 44 kg and 145 cm. One halibut 15 kg released. Cods 5-10 kg.

19.10.10. 5 halibuts!!! 10, 12, 15, 17 and 27 kg. Taken on Vattenholmen area. A really nice day:-))) Two halibut released.

17.10.10. Nice weather but the halibut did not bite. Nice cods 5-10 kg.

16.10.10. A really good fishingday. Nice halibut 37 kg! Several contacts. The fish was taken in Kårhamn area.

24.09.10 Halibut 60 kg!! 160 cm and one "smal" halibut 16 kg. The halibut was taken in Lille Vinna area and released. Nice cod and shellfish.

23.09.10. Halibut 25 kg! Taken on silver pilk at Slettnesfjord/sørøya side.

22.09.10. 3 halibut today! 22-15 kg. Two released. The halibut was taken in Kårhamn area. One Cod 130 cm.

21.09.10. New group arrive today. They are looking for the big halibut. You can follow the boats on the web.

20.09.10. The Northernlight season has started.

16.09.2010. We had some nice days fishing. A lot of fish, but the big ones did not bite. The last week we got one smal halibut 6 kg.

08.09.2010. Dutch fishingteam. Cod 11,5 kg. German fishingteam halibut 20,5 kg!

06.09.10. Strong wind. Not posible to use the boats, so for the moment we are fishing plaice frome the pier...

05.09.10. Halibut 15,5 kg.

August 2010

27.08.10. One smal halibut and a lot of nice cods 6-10 kg. Many Sei up to 70-80 cm. Nice wether. We still looking for the big big fish.

26.08.10. German proff team, halibut 10,5 kg and cod 11 kg.

25.08.10. German proff fishing team got halibut 20,5 kg and a monkfish 6,5 kg. Nice cod 12,5 kg.

20-24.august. The fishing is not so easy for the moment. Wind from east. But we got  nice cod  8-14 kg the last days at Kårhamn/Skreifjord area. We got two fishingteams from Germany looking for the halibut. Hope for some nice chatsh the next days:-)

18-19.08.10. Cod 8-12 kg and 3 halibuts for our Lithuanian fishingteam. Estonian fishingteam. Cods 10-12 kg and a lot of nice Sei.

17.08.10. The wether is changing again. Not so strong wind and all boats are out fishing. The first boats are back with cods 12-13,5 kg. Not posible to go fare. The boats found shelter behind Vinna island.

August 14. Temperatur +24C. August 15. Snow and +4 C...

10.08.10. Nice fishing. Our Dutch fishing team got many cods 10-15 kg. Sei and redfish, wolf and hadock and a smal leng. The fish was taken on Hjelmen area and Lille Vinna at 80-100 meter.

09.08.2010. We got for first time a spottet Wolf-fish on Seiland. It was 14,5 kg and 115 cm! Cod 15 kg and Sei 6 kg. Taken on Mefjord plateau. Lithuanian fishingteam.

07-08.08.2010. Good fishing on Mefjord grunnen at 130 meter deep. Cod 10-14 kg. Lithuanian fishingteam.

The halibut season has started realy good. Our Swedish guest lost one nice halibut. (15-20 kg, pictures are coming:-) and our Lithuanian team lost a "monster" 2 meter halibut. They had two gaff in the halibut but it was not enough. Next time we bring a harpoon...

31.07.2010. Finally we got the halibut! After 4 bigones got away and one broken fishingrod our Lithuanian fishingteam had a nice halibut 20 kg in "Svee grunnen at Lille Vinna" area. The halibut was taken on herring at 30-35 meters deep. We also had some nice cods 10 kg and sei, catfish and haddock.

26.07.2010. Our Dutch guest got many nice sei (80-97 cm, 6-7,5 kg) Nice wether. The fish was taken on light equipment in Vinna sundet/Survika fjord. Good fight. Many fish on a dobbel drill.

25:07.2010. Summer again. Nice wether +20c, no wind and good fishing for our France/Estonian fishingteem.

24.07.2010. The wether has been realy bad the last weeks. Regn, strong wind and even snow(!!) in the mountains. Temperatur between 4-10 C is no good fishingwether. But we hope for a change the next days. To day some of our guest got some nice fish.

14.07.2010. Halibut 22 kg! After a long day fishing we finaly got a nice halibut. Polish fishingteam.

01.07.2010. The fish is not easy to find but on Mefjord plateau we got some nice cods. (10-14 kg) and one halibut 15 kg.

Juni 2010

30.06.10. Cod 17,5 kg. Many cods 10-15 kg. Nice catfish. The fish is deep and hard to find. Halibut 22 kg taken on Mefjordplateau at 120m deep.

28-29.06.10. Cod 22 kg taken on Mefjordplateau at 130 m deep. Good fishing.

27.06.10. Strong wind and hard rain. No fihsing to day. The temp drop to 4 C! From +22 to +4 in one day..

26.06.10. Halibut 18 kg and catfish 6,5 kg. First day in june with temperatur over 22 C. It is summer!! (but only for one day.) 

24-25.06.10.  The wether is good agan. Good fishing at Mefjordgrunnen. Cod 136 cm and 22 kg. A lot of nice redfish and sei. Halibut 10,5 kg. A lot of Catfish in Hønsebyfjord. Biggest was 6,5 kg.

16 - 19 juni. Bad wether and difficult fishing. It is raining hard and the fish is not biting. But we had some nice catsh the last days. Cod 122 cm (Czech fishingTeam) and one halibut 9 kg. (Estonian fishingTeam) Last night they also got many nice cod and sei. The fish are still there :-)

14.06.2010. Cod 120 cm and 14 kg. Strong wind.

12-13.06.2010. Cod 10-15 kg. Czech fishingTeam. Good fishing.

10-11.06.2010. A nice day fishing. Polish FishingTeam. Many cod 10-12 kg and a lot of sei.

09.06.2010. Strong wind. Hard fishing. Halibut 14,5 kg. Nice cods and sei.

08.06.2010. German Fishing Team.  A lot of fish 12-15 kg. Cod 15 kg-122 cm. Catfish 7 kg-98 cm.

07.06.2010. Halibut 28 kg and many cod 10-14 kg today. Best fishing at "Mefjord grunnen" at 60-70 meter.

06.06.10 It looks like the salmon fishing is over for this time. Only two salmon, but the wind is going down and the first boats are out.

04.06.10. Weather is changing. Strong wind and no boat fishing. But the salmon fishing is still good! German fishingteam got 75 salmon to day :-))) (total over 120 salmon!)

Mai 2010

31 mai. 2010. Czech (Extreme :-) Fishing Team. Two days fishing and 40 salmon, 2-5 kg! (next day they got 25 and 40 salmon!) And they still fishing....... (Total 114 salmon!)

30 mai. 2010. Czech fishing Team. Cod 16 kg - many cods 10 - 12 kg the last days.

28 mai. 2010. 2 halibut. 115 cm and 14,5 kg and 83 cm.

27.mai.2010 3 halibut, 8 - 11,5 kg

26.mai.2010 New record this season. Cod 137 cm and 25 kg!  Catfish 101 cm.

25.mai.2010. Strong wind and no fishing to day.

20-24 mai.2010. Realy good fishing. Many cods 120 - 132 cm and 16-21 kg. Nice sei, 80-100 cm.

17.05.2010. Nasjonaldag i strålende vær. 22 grader og en fantastisk stemning. På Nordre Seiland samlet toget 61 personer.

Record this season from the German fishingteam. 25 kg-132 cm.

13.05.2010. Grate fishing. Halibut 12 kg and cod 18 kg. Best fishing in Jøfjord/Tverrfjord area.

08.05.2010. Still good fishing. Many nice cods and halibuts. Wether is changing. Next days some rain but later on we hope for sun and good fishing conditions.

07.05.2010 - Realy good fishing for the moment. A lot of fish. Cod 15 kg. Sei over 1 meter. 6 halibut .

06.05.2010 - The fish is back :-) Many nice cods 120 cm, one halibut 8 kg. Catfish, Redfish. Good wether and nice drift.

25-29 april- Suddenly winter again
Strong wind and snow and closed roads. Problems for our guest with summer tires. No fishing the last days.

The fishing season has started:-) Good fishing in Vinnasundet/Survika fjord.

Our boats have GPS tracking system from Telespor.

30 days with -10 to -22.(and the coldes mnd is normaly march)

11.02.10 Northern lights ower Hønseby

08.02.10.The sun is back and the long  and dark polar night is over for this time.

Polar night. The sun goes under the horizon the 22 november and comes back the 20 of januar. In Hønseby we can see the  sun over the  mountain the first week of februar.

Mørketid. Den offesielle mørketiden på vår breddegrad er fra 22 november til 20 januar. I Hønseby treffer de første solstrålene bygda vår første uka i februar.

Hønseby:

Sometimes the Northern Lights all come out together, dancing across the sky in orange, purple, green and sunset red. At other times, they are curtains of green or a twister of ethereal light. During the Viking Age, the Northern Lights were the armour of the Valkyrie warrior virgins, shedding a strange flickering light. Some also believe they are the fiery breath of a dragon flashing across the sky.  In olden days, Scandinavian fishermen believed that the Northern Lights were the reflections of herring in the Northern Sea.  And according to Japanese legend, it is good luck to conceive a child under the Northern Lights.  Many young children make wishes and believe they can catch the Northern Lights by waving to the sky.
