Still good fishing at the area "Mefjord Grunnen" and "Hjelmen island". Cod 10-15 kg, Sei 4-7 kg and nice Uer at 130-160m deep.

The fish is back! To day a lot of fish on the "Mefjord Grunnen" at 130-150 meter. The biggest cod was 20,3 kg and 132 cm. A lot of fish 11-14 kg. We also got a halibut 13,5 kg.

It is good fishing but the realy big fish is not biting. One smal halibut 5 kg.We can se a lot of fish on the fishfinder on 100-150 meter. We will try night fishing  and se if we have some luck.

The fish is better again.

The sea temperatur is going down a bit (+10C) and the fish is biting again. It is still plankton blooming but we hope we are over the top. The fish is under the plankton belt and the two last days we was fishing at 70-150 meeter in Hjelmen area to "Slettnesfjorden and Langstrandfjorden" One halibut and many fine cods and catfish. The next days we are going to try fishing deeper to se if we can fin the big ones.

The fishing is difficult. The plankton blooming force the fish to go deep. No bite.

Good fishing in Gjøfjord. 7 sei, 97-100 cm. 8-9 kg. Two on a dobbel dril! Big fight:-)) We also get a halibut 11 kg and cods 10-15,5 kg. Nice wether. Perfect day.

Good Fishing:-) The fish is deep. 160-100 meter. Smal fish 80-30 meter deep

Cod: 124 cm and 21,5 kg and many sei/coalfish over 1 meter. The fish is deep. 130-100 meters. Jig/pilk 600g-750g. strong drift/stream.

Halibut: 110 cm and 114 cm. 14-15 kg. Taken on "Svenskpilk" 400g in Survika fjord.

The fishing is realy good in Gjøfjord for the moment. Cod 125 cm and 20+kg.

The Fishing season has started!

March 7th.  2009

The first group has arrived.

Februar 10. 2009. The sun is back and the long  and dark polar night is over for this time.

Polar night. The sun goes under the horizon the 22 november and comes back the 20 of januar. In Hønseby we can see the  sun over the  mountain the first week of februar.

Mørketid. Den offesielle mørketiden på vår breddegrad er fra 22 november til 20 januar. I Hønseby treffer de første solstrålene bygda vår første uka i februar.
